With a background in psychology, I am fascinated by the way in which people's beliefs impact their behaviour, their interpretation of events and the construction of their personal history. This interest in personal narrative is a key influence on my art work. I am intrigued by the story behind an event, an object, a moment in time and who owns the interpretation.
My art tends to be in two parts: an exploration of a theme or concept in a body of work and an accompanying short text offering an imagined backstory. These narratives are not intended as an explanation - they are only one of many possible readings. This reflects my belief that there is never one 'true' version or explanation of events; everything is open to interpretation.
This portfolio contains a selection of projects created over the past decade. The work is mixed media including metal, wood, clay, silver, found objects, resin and photography.
